About Us
The Occupational & Environmental Health Center of Eastern New York (OEHC), is one of eight regional not-for-profit occupational health centers established by the New York State Legislature in 1987. The New York State Department of Health has oversight responsibility for the statewide network.
OEHC is a community-based center of excellence dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of occupational and environmental illness and injury.
Each clinical center is affiliated with a "parent" institution. OEHC is a division of Group Health Incorporated (GHI). GHI is a leading New York-based health services organization chartered under New York State Insurance Law as a not-for-profit corporation operating statewide.
OEHC is guided by Advisory Boards (Albany and Mid-Hudson) with members from business, labor, governmental and educational agencies, community groups and the medical community.
Our regional service area covers 21 counties in eastern New York State - from the Canadian border to the north and Westchester County to the south.
The goal of OEHC is to reduce and prevent worksite injury and illness that can have a dramatic impact on both employees' quality of life and the 'bottom line' for business. We are a clinical center whose staff includes physicians board certified in occupational and environmental medicine, a certified Industrial Hygienist, certified occupational health nurses and other professional and support staff.
OEHC is there to help businesses, labor unions and workers identify and control hazards, and suggest practical ways to reduce or prevent illness and injury.
